Authentication

How to log in, register, reset your password, and manage your account security.

This guide covers all the ways to sign in to EVENTRA, create an account, and recover access if you forget your password.

Your EVENTRA instance is accessed through your organization's personal URL, for example https://yourcompany.eventra.app/. All authentication pages are displayed within a card centered on the screen, with your organization's logo (or the EVENTRA logo) at the top, overlaid on a full-screen background image.

1. Login

The login page is located at /auth/login on your EVENTRA instance.

Step 1: Enter Your Email

  1. You see a white card with your organization's logo at the top.
  2. Below the logo there is a field labeled E-Mail.
  3. Enter your email address and click the "Anmelden" (Log in) button.

What happens next depends on how your account is set up:

  • If you have a password: The page expands to show a second field labeled Passwort (Password). A link labeled "Passwort vergessen?" (Forgot password?) appears above the password field. Enter your password and click "Anmelden" again.
  • If you do not have a password (magic link / OTP): You are redirected to the OTP page (see Section 3 below).
  • If your email is not registered: You are redirected to the registration page.

Step 2: Enter Your Password (if applicable)

  1. The Passwort field appears below the email field.
  2. A toggle button on the right side of the password field lets you show or hide the password (eye icon).
  3. Enter your password and click "Anmelden".
  4. On success, you are redirected to the main dashboard.

Error Messages

  • "Es ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es erneut." -- A general error occurred. Try again.
  • "Es gab ein Problem bei der Anmeldung mit Google. Bitte versuche es erneut." -- Google sign-in failed. Try again.
  • "Es gab ein Problem bei der Anmeldung mit Apple. Bitte versuche es erneut." -- Apple sign-in failed. Try again.

Additional Options on the Login Page

Below the login button, a divider line with the word "oder" (or) separates the main login from alternative options:

  • "Mit Apple anmelden" -- Sign in with your Apple account (only available if Social Login is enabled for your organization).
  • "Mit Google anmelden" -- Sign in with your Google account (only available if Social Login is enabled for your organization).

If Social Login is not enabled, these buttons appear grayed out. Clicking them shows the message: "Social Login ist für diesen Mandanten nicht aktiviert." (Social Login is not enabled for this organization.)

At the bottom of the card:

"Du hast noch keinen Account? Registrieren" (Don't have an account yet? Register)

Click "Registrieren" to go to the registration page.

2. Social Login (Google and Apple)

Social login allows you to sign in using your existing Google or Apple account, without needing a separate password.

Availability

Social Login must be enabled by your organization's administrator. If it is not enabled, the Google and Apple buttons on the login page appear dimmed and display an error message when clicked.

How It Works

  1. On the login page, click "Mit Google anmelden" or "Mit Apple anmelden".
  2. You are redirected to Google's or Apple's sign-in page.
  3. Sign in with your Google or Apple credentials and grant the requested permissions.
  4. You are automatically redirected back to EVENTRA and logged in.

Social login is also available on the registration page with buttons labeled "Mit Google registrieren" and "Mit Apple registrieren".

If you do not have a password set up, EVENTRA uses a one-time password (OTP) system. This is also the default method for first-time logins after a demo setup.

How It Works

  1. Enter your email on the login page and click "Anmelden".
  2. You are redirected to the OTP page, which displays:
    • The heading "Login"
    • The text: "Bitte gib den 6-stelligen Code ein, den wir dir per E-Mail gesendet haben." (Please enter the 6-digit code we sent you by email.)
    • Six input boxes for the code, arranged in two groups of three separated by a dash.
  3. Check your email inbox. You receive an email titled "DEIN EINMALPASSWORT" (Your One-Time Password) containing:
    • A large, bold 6-digit code.
    • The text: "Oder hier direkt mit dem Magic Link einloggen:" (Or log in directly with the Magic Link here:)
    • A green button labeled "Einloggen" (Log in) that logs you in automatically when clicked.

Entering the Code

  • Type the 6-digit code into the input boxes. The login happens automatically once all 6 digits are entered.
  • You do not need to click a button -- the form submits itself.

Countdown Timer

Below the code input, a countdown timer shows the remaining validity. The display reads: "Gueltigkeit 243 s" (Validity 243 s), counting down to zero.

The code expires after 5 minutes (300 seconds). You must enter the code before the timer reaches zero, or you will need to request a new one.

Wrong Email?

If you notice you entered the wrong email, click the link below the code input that reads "[youremail@example.com] ist falsch?" (is wrong?). This takes you back to the login page to enter a different email.

Error Messages

  • "Ungültiger Code" -- The code you entered is incorrect.
  • "Der Code muss 6-stellig sein." -- The code must be exactly 6 digits.
  • "Der Code darf nur Zahlen enthälten." -- The code may only contain numbers.

Alternative: Set a Permanent Password

The OTP email also includes a note: "Als Alternative zum Einmalpasswort kannst du, nachdem du dich angemeldet hast, in deinem Benutzerkonto unter 'Sicherheit' ein dauerhaftes Passwort erstellen."

This means you can set up a permanent password in your account settings after logging in, so you do not need to use the OTP method every time.

4. Registration

The registration page is located at /auth/register.

  1. You see a field labeled E-Mail.
  2. Enter your email address.
  3. Click the button "Registrieren mit MagicLink" (Register with MagicLink).
  4. You receive an OTP email and are redirected to the OTP page to complete registration.

Alternative: Register with Password

  1. Below the main button, click "Registrieren mit Passwort" (Register with Password).
  2. A second field labeled Passwort appears.
  3. Enter your email and choose a password that meets the requirements (see Section 7).
  4. Click "Registrieren mit Passwort".

You can switch between the two modes at any time by clicking the outline button below the main submit button.

Social Registration

Below the form, separated by an "oder" divider:

  • "Mit Apple registrieren" -- Register using your Apple account.
  • "Mit Google registrieren" -- Register using your Google account.

These are only available if Social Login is enabled for your organization.

Already Have an Account?

At the bottom:

"Du hast schon einen Account? Anmelden" (Already have an account? Log in)

Click "Anmelden" to go to the login page.

5. Password Reset

The password reset page is located at /auth/reset.

  1. The page shows the heading "Passwort zurücksetzen" (Reset Password).
  2. Below it: "Bitte gib deine E-Mail-Adresse ein, damit wir Dir einen Link zum Zurücksetzen deines Passworts zuschicken können." (Please enter your email address so we can send you a link to reset your password.)
  3. Enter your email in the field labeled E-Mail.
  4. Click the button "Zurücksetzen" (Reset).
  5. A success message appears as a green toast notification confirming the email has been sent.
  6. Below the button, a link reads "Zurück zur Anmeldung" (Back to login) to return to the login page.

Step 2: Check Your Email

You receive an email titled "PASSWORT ZURUECKSETZEN" (Reset Password) containing:

  • The text: "Du kannst dein Passwort hier zurücksetzen:" (You can reset your password here:)
  • A green button labeled "Passwort zurücksetzen" (Reset Password).

Click the button to proceed.

Step 3: Set a New Password

  1. You are taken to the password reset page with the heading "Passwort zurücksetzen".
  2. Below it: "Bitte gib dein neues Passwort ein." (Please enter your new password.)
  3. Enter your new password in the field labeled Neues Passwort (New Password). It must meet the password requirements (see Section 7).
  4. Click the button "Passwort Zurücksetzen" (Reset Password).
  5. On success, a green toast notification confirms the change, and you are automatically redirected to the login page after a short moment.

6. Email Change

If you change your email address in your account settings, you receive a confirmation email at the new address.

Confirmation Email

The email is titled "E-MAIL-ADRESSE AENDERN" (Change Email Address) and contains:

  • The text: "Du hast eine Änderung Deiner E-Mail-Adresse angefordert. Um die neue E-Mail-Adresse zu bestaetigen, klicke bitte auf den Button unten."
  • A green button labeled "E-Mail-Adresse bestaetigen" (Confirm Email Address).
  • A note: "Wenn Du diese Änderung nicht beantragt hast, kannst Du diese E-Mail ignorieren." (If you did not request this change, you can ignore this email.)

Confirmation Page

After clicking the button:

  1. The page shows the heading "E-Mail-Adresse ändern" (Change Email Address).
  2. While processing: A spinner is displayed with the text "Die E-Mail-Adresse wird verifiziert..." (The email address is being verified...)
  3. On success: A green checkmark icon appears with the message "Deine E-Mail-Adresse wurde erfolgreich geaendert." (Your email address has been changed successfully.) The page closes automatically after a 3-second countdown.
  4. On error: A red alert icon appears with an error message and a button "Zur Anmeldeseite" (Go to login page).

Error Messages

  • "Kein Token gefunden. Bitte überprüfe den Link oder fordere einen neuen an." -- No token found. Check the link or request a new one.
  • "Ein unerwarteter Fehler ist aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es erneut." -- An unexpected error occurred. Please try again.

7. Password Requirements

Password Requirements

When creating or resetting a password, it must meet all of the following criteria:

  • At least 8 characters long
  • Contains at least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
  • Contains at least one lowercase letter (a-z)
  • Contains at least one number (0-9)

If the password does not meet these requirements, you see the error message:

"Das Passwort muss mindestens 8 Zeichen lang sein und Großbuchstaben, Kleinbuchstaben und Zahlen enthälten." (The password must be at least 8 characters long and contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers.)

8. Common Error Messages

9. Two-Factor Authentication

Coming Soon

Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an extra layer of security for your account. This feature is currently in development and will be available in a future update. Once available, you will be able to enable it in your account security settings.
